Red Sands

Tankerton, Kent

A project of our own, this 1950’s semi detached house on the Tankerton seafront has been remodelled to create a bright contemporary family home.

The house has been reconfigured internally and extended to the side and rear on two levels to incorporate 4 bedrooms and a large open plan space overlooking the garden.

With this house we wanted the frontage and landscaping to feel open and relaxed, to make the most of the proximity to the beach and take in the sea views.

We’ve used a combination of larch timber cladding, some of which is charred on the exterior, while internally we have introduced texture with materials like exposed concrete blocks, oak ply and terrazzo tiles on the floor. Throughout the house there is bespoke oak-veneered joinery, giving a warm feel to the rooms and adding to the functionality.

Completed Winter 2020
