LEAP

Carlow, Ireland

A collaborative partnership with Emma Geoghegan and Alister Corbett of Meme Architecture and Design prior to forming Meme Architects in the UK.

LEAP is a learning building for the Delta centre, a publicly funded organisation which provides training, respite & multi-sensory for young adults with learning disabilities.

Located on the outskirts of Carlow town, the building is linked to the existing centre and overlooks the award winning sensory gardens.

Orientation and modulation of natural daylight dictate the cross section creating a series of differentiated spaces each with its’ own quality of light and form, externally resulting in a series of folded zinc planes which frame the building and reference the industrial context.

Other materials include concrete, Larch and limestone.

Highly commended in 2010 RIAI Irish Architecture Awards
